Microglossum viride

Green Earth Tongue, Kaimai Forest

There is a Californian example on the internet with a bright turquoise colour, but it seems the fungus later fades to the colour seen here. I have not found the bright version and most of the internet examples look rather like this, or even more brown, or pale green.

M olivaceum is a dirty brown but may have green base to the stem and grows in grasslands rather than forest.
