Nematoceras “triwhite”

is a subalpine form of the N. trilobum aggregate occurring on Ruapehu, Mt Taranaki and extensively in Nelson high country. The unusual white colour still shows the dark patches by the column and stripes on the rear of the dorsal sepal, typical of the aggregate. The 10mm flowers open from September to November under thick shady scrub, no doubt for frost protection.
