| Plumatichilos (Pterostylis) tasmanicum
is a self introduced greenhood from Tasmania. Its waving, yellow plumed labellum, separates it from the Pterostylis group with their triggering labellums. Said to be self pollinating, but ladder-rung hairs up the column wings (not visible here) show that it is open to fly pollination whenever possible. Occurs from the Puffer Track to the far north, in dappled sun under scrub, often on dry edges and, unusual for native orchids, under well lit gorse. Flowers in September to October.
