Double Cone, RemarkablesThe Remarkables are the mountain range to the east of Lake Whakatipu and are a feature of the view from Queenstown, a famous New Zealand tourist town. This is not the scene on a multitude of postcards, for here we see Double Cone from the "back" (East), reached by climbing up from the Remarkables ski field.. Lake Alta is a high lake, frozen in winter, which feeds the stream in the foreground. The rock with many layers is schist. |
