Lunch at Lake Lyndon Castle Hill Limestone Rocks

The reflecting pond is inconstant. It may be a mud pan at dry times.
Castle hill is found a short walk from the road between Porters Pass and Arthurs Pass. The limestone outcrops are fun to climb and rare flowers are found here.
The Castle Hill buttercup was said to be unique (Kirk) until a modern expert said it was not. Now an argument has started about this flower growing in limestone versus buttercups in greywacke... In the meantime a reserve had been created, safe from grazing sheep and several rare species now survive here, we are told, but you can enjoy Castle Hill without bothering about botany.
